The Centro Camuno proposes its annual rock-art recording fieldwork in Valcamonica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The activities will take place at the Centro Camuno headquarters and in the Foppe di Nadro area – Natural Reserve of the Rock Engravings of Ceto, Cimbergo and Paspardo (Valcamonica – Italy).
The fieldwork will be structured over two weeks; participants will gain hands-on experience in the phases of recording and cataloguing of rockart:
• Surface preparation
• Placement of PVC sheets and contact tracing techniques
• Photographic documentation in accordance with archaeological standards
• Digitization of the tracing sheets, processing, and recomposition in the laboratory
• Cataloguing, analysis, and comparison with archaeological sources
• Post-processing of the collected data
• Lectures and site visits to rock art sites
• Theoretical lessons on advanced documentation techniques applied to rock art
Fieldwork activities will begin on July 13 at 2:00 PM; participants are strongly advised to arrive in the morning. The final day of work will be Friday, July 24. The departures scheduled for Saturday.

Requirements: The fieldwork is open to everyone; priority will be given to students and graduates in archaeology, anthropology, history and art history

REGISTRATION FEE: €300 (including: all activities and classes; insurance covering any on-site accidents; accommodation; membership fee to the CCSP; no. 2 volumes published by the Edizioni del Centro).
ACCOMMODATION: The CCSP has its own guesthouse with a shared kitchen (included in the registration fee).
A certificate will be issued for university training credits.
It is strongly recommended to arrive the day BEFORE the start of Fielwork activities.

Valcamonica can be reached by bus and train, the nearest stations being BRENO and CAPO DI PONTE. Check in time for connections from Brescia and Bergamo at the following sites:

For private vehicles, there is ample no-fee public parking available near the Nadro Museum and the Reserve Guesthouse.
Accommodation and meals
The CCSP has its own guesthouse with a shared kitchen (included in the registration fee).
The guest quarters are equipped with kitchens; you will be taken to a nearby ECONOMIC SUPERMARKET for COLLECTIVE weekly shopping, so that costs will be kept down considerably.
Do not forget at home
It is required comfortable clothing, suitable for fieldwork (hiking boots, hat, raincoat); water bottle; insect repellent; sunscreen; compass; bed and bath linens.
